Are you a General Practitioner / Medical Officer looking for a new challenge?

Under the direction of the Medical Director and as part of the dedicated regional clinical team, you'll be responsible for the delivery of comprehensive primary health care to indigenous people living within the communities of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands.

In this truly satisfying and diverse role, you'll be working with a renowned and highly commended health services council in an organised environment with modern facilities. You'll be employing leading clinical service practices within an experienced, multidisciplinary team so you can be sure your health checks and treatment plans are followed through.

Nganampa Health Council is proud to offer innovative working options, negotiable upon each candidate's requirements. This position will preferably be full-time, however there is the opportunity to choose the way you work, including job share, or based up to half of your time in Alice Springs.

Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north west of South Australia. Across this area, we operate seven health clinics, an aged care facility and assorted health-related programs including aged care, sexual health, environmental health, health worker training, dental, women's health, male health, children's health and mental health.

At Nganampa Health Council our people are our greatest strength

To be considered for this unique and rewarding opportunity, you must be a qualified General Practitioner with AHPRA registration, or eligibility to apply. As part of a team environment, you will be willing to participate in out of hours consultation and provide assistance to other team members when required.

This position covers a varying range of medical work and as such, Nganampa Health Council requires an individual with proven experience in the provision of emergency medical services. You must be prepared to respond to emergencies in the community, being on call most week nights and some weekends.

Nganampa Health Council is seeking adaptable and flexible individuals who can display the initiative, discretion and cultural sensitivity needed to support and drive the organisation's objectives and values. The ability to communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team is essential.

You will have a commitment to improving health care and health outcomes in remote Aboriginal communities, combined with an understanding of the issues currently affecting Aboriginal health and the principles of Primary Health Care.

In addition, you will receive an excellent salary package circa $350,000 - $400,000, negotiable with experience and locality arrangements.

The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands are located in the far north-western region of South Australia. It covers approximately 103,000 sq. km with a population of approximately 3,000 Anangu people. The region is freehold land controlled by the Anangu people.
