About the Organisation

Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north-western region of South Australia. The APY Lands cover roughly 103,000 square km, with a population of approx. 3,000 Anangu people. The region is freehold land controlled by the Anangu people. 

Across this area, Nganampa Health Council operates six clinics, an aged care facility and assorted health-related programs including aged care, sexual health, environmental health, dental, women's health, men's health, children's health and mental health.

Nganampa Health Council is widely recognised as being an exemplary Aboriginal health service in the country. Their successes include significantly reducing the rates of sexually transmitted infections, increasing birth weights through their antenatal program, consistently keeping childhood immunisation rates at 100% and providing high quality residential and respite aged care at their Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility.

We are looking for a dedicated Finance Officer to join the Finance/ Accounting team, based in Alice Springs, NT

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and supervised by the Accounts Manager, you will be part of the finance team which is responsible for the delivery of effective finance and administration services which are critical to the organisation, achieving outcomes recorded in the strategic plan. 

Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable;
  • Month end, quarterly and annual reporting;
  • Processing debtor and creditor invoices;
  • Liaising with suppliers, staff and customers;
  • Assisting with payroll functions;
  • Year end preparation for Audit;
  • Managing staff travel allowance payments and expense reimbursements;
  • Recording and issuing order books;
  • Relieving the Accounts Manager as needed; and
  • Assisting with other office administrative tasks

About You

To be considered, you will have demonstrated knowledge and practical experience as a Finance Officer/ Administrator, combined with experience using Xero, or similar accounting software. Additional experience with the electronic purchase order software, ApprovalMax, or equivalent will also be highly regarded.

Working as part of a professional finance team, you will be well supported in this role, but should have the ability to work autonomously and time effectively in order to meet deadlines. 

Your highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, will be key to your success. Additionally, you will be able to work in an Aboriginal controlled organisation and have a passion for improving socioeconomic outcomes for Indigenous people. 

Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel will be required.

Please note, this role does require additional work hours from time to time, for which time in lieu will be provided. The successful applicant must also be willing to undergo a national police check prior to commencement.
