Nganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation operating on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north west of South Australia. Across this area, NHC operates seven clinics and assorted health related programs including in aged care, sexual health, environmental health, health worker training, oral health, women’s health, male health, children’s health, immunisation, eye health and mental health.

Widely recognised as being an exemplary Aboriginal health service, Nganampa has sustained a national reputation for best practice primary health care services and leading edge collaborative program research and development. Their successes include significantly reducing the rates of sexually transmitted infections, increasing birth weights through their antenatal program and consistently keeping childhood immunisation rates at over 90% (some years at 100%).

Your New Career

Nganampa Health Council (NHC) is currently looking for a Finance Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. 

As a Finance Manager you will be primarily responsible for monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the company including banking and investment strategies. You will also be responsible for preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting.

Working under the direction of the CFO, your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing the organisation's accounting systems and procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems and their outputs, as well as timeliness and validity of payments;
  • Preparing financial statements for audit and dispatching to relevant funding/statutory bodies;
  • The supervision and management of Accounts Manager, Payroll Manager and Finance Officer (Flexible Support), ensuring a collegiate and supportive team environment;
  • Developing strong and collaborative relationships with staff and key stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of communications and resolution of issues;
  • Actively managing the Asset Register; and
  • Attending meetings & undertaking other duties as requested by the CFO

To be successful you'll be passionate and flexible, possessing a tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or economics and eligibility for membership with CPA.

You'll be confident communicating and participating within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary team, with a demonstrated commitment and passion for contributing to improved socioeconomic outcomes for Indigenous people. 

You will be a strong problem solver with an attention to detail and a proven ability to make sound judgements, prioritise competing demands, and deliver great outcomes for the staff and communities you'll support. Previous experience in a similar position in conjunction with experience using Xero accounting software and advanced skills in Excel and Powerpoint are considered essential. It is important to know that candidates who are in possession of previous experience working with Aboriginal people or the health care sector will be highly regarded.

Finally, Nganampa is looking for someone with a genuine interest in working with and learning from, Aboriginal people and communities, who is committed to inclusive decision making and communicates openly and honestly with individuals at all levels.

Please note: This role will involve occasional travel to remote communities via unsealed dirt roads and so you must be comfortable with this. You will also need a current manual Driver's License and be willing to undergo a Police Check and Working With Children Check prior to commencing employment.
